I love President Nelson

My man President Nelson is making moves with this new announcement allowing and encouraging missionaries to call and talk with their families each week! I was crazy excited when I heard that I can now call and video call on P-days. I think this is such a blessing for all missionaries serving around the world and especially their families around the world. When the missionaries and I first heard about this announcement, we honestly didn't believe it! We thought we were getting pranked or something and we didn't have access to just look it up online! It all sounded too good to be true honestly. I had a wonderful time speaking and seeing my family members today, the people who I love most. I am grateful that I had the opportunity to talk with them and I am grateful for the inspired changes made by the First Presidency.

This week I had the opportunity to talk about the hope that we receive from God with multiple people. There is an awesome video that all of you should go watch right now!! It is called "The Hope of God's Light". https://www.lds.org/media-library/video/2014-07-006-the-hope-of-gods-light?lang=eng
Anyway, it is so true. It really isn't possible to find everlasting hope and joy in worldly things. Worldy things often look very attractive and enticing but it is God's light that we can feel to bring us real everlasting, eternal hope and joy. I have seen this light in many peoples lives here in India. So many people that have recognized that no matter what situation they are in in their life that they can feel the love and joy that comes from The Gospel. People that are actually struggling to get the basic necessities of life are happy. The best part about The Gospel is that it doesn't matter who wants to feel God's love can feel it. It doesn't matter if it is the rich or the poor, the clean or the dirty, or the old or the young people. Anyone and everyone can feel God's love and hope in their life!! I know that I have so much happiness, joy, and lasting hope because of what I know about living the Gospel and following God's commandments.

I have been teaching this family ever since I got to this area a little over 4 months ago and they are just awesome. The father comes to our church every week because he feels the spirit and loves the fellowship there. He also loves the feeling like a family. They are an awesome couple and we even invited them to be baptized about 2 months ago. They have been praying and told us that they are waiting for the "urge" to be baptized. Well, after teaching them more about the baptism of Jesus Christ yesterday, the wife mentioned something. She said that more than ever in her life the word "baptism" has been brought to her attention the last two months. She said it seems like everyone wants to talk about baptism with me! She even said that she thinks God is trying to answer her prayer but she isn't ready to accept it yet. I didn't want to offend her but she said it, not me!! I really hope and pray that this family chooses to follow Jesus Christ and be baptized, they are so awesome and I really know that the gospel of Jesus Christ will bless their lives so much, more than they understand now!!

Funny story! So, I decided to start making vlogs this week with Elder Rajendran and at first he was not so into it. He didn't talk much on camera and was a little nervous about his English. I did it for two days and then the next day Elder Rajendran lost his name tag! He was devastated and really wanted it back. So, we started looking and we prayed to find it! Well, I had the idea to look back and watch our vlogs to see if he was wearing it and when he wasn't. We figured out through watching the vlogs where he was last wearing it and pin pointed where he might have lost it. We rode our bikes there right away and sure enough, a nice man came up to us and gave us Elder Rajendran's name tag that had fallen off. Thank you vlogs!!

Anyway, it has been a great week and I look forward to the next week. I love you all and appreciate you all in my life.

Love, Elder Baker
